ears

Only vertebrate animals have ears, although many invertebrates are able to detect sound using other kinds of sense organs.
For example, arthropods such as spiders and cockroaches have hair on their legs, used for detecting sound.
Caterpillars may also have hair on their body that perceive vibrations and allow them to respond to the sound.
